Looking Through Broken Mirrors A lecture in understanding Eating Disorders.
Stacey Prussman www.myspace.com www.campuspeak.com About me: I am a
comedian, actress, recovering eating disorder survivor and motivational
speaker. I am very fortunate to speak to students on College Campuses all
across the US and Canada about eating disorders, body image and healing. My
eating disorders started early. I was put on my first diet at the age of
ten. Before my big audition for the Broadway production of Annie, an agent
told me, There are no fat Annies you need to lose some weight. The next
fifteen years were filled with diet pills, fad diets, starvation, extreme
exercise, depression, and bulimia. I was constantly trying to lose that
extra ten pounds. I had an eating disorder for 15 years and had no idea!
After being hospitalized due to the effects of my eating disorders, I
decided to fight back and learn to set my OWN standards. I feel its very
important for young women to understand what they are doing to their
bodies destroying it! I was brutal to my body and myself. I want for
others to learn from my mistakes. I am now a professional stand-up
comedian, actress, motivational speaker, certified personal trainer, and an
eating disorder survivor. Its not easy admitting that I had a problem. But,
Ive been without urges for over five years now. I speak to students all
over the US and Canada about my personal story of my battle with eating
disorders and how I struggled to
