Tips For Choosing The Right Web Developer
Posted: 28 May 2011 07:13 AM PDT
http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/WebBlogNews/~3/lcvtZByynUs/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email
By their very nature web developers and programmers tend to be quite
youthful. They enter the business often at a very young age with out ever
having worked in a company or organisation. This means they have never had
to answer to any one or abide by rules or corporate regulations and
protocols. What this means for any business who engages these kinds of kids
to develop their web site is that they could run in to serious issues. Some
of these issues are quite problematic and could mean a horrific end to a
web design project. Some issues that may arise are:1) The web developer
takes on your project but is totally oblivious to your time frame and worse
than that he is reluctant to work with you to adhere to this tight
schedule.2) They never answer any phone calls or messages once they have
the job. Often they are over loaded with work and you can often be placed
at the bottom of the pile or queue meaning that your job will not meet its
deadline. This can be of little concern to the developer as he is not the
one dealing with a stressed out frantic client on the phone chewing your
ear off daily. These are just a few things that can arise when dealing with
some one who has very little work experience and who has an ego and
attitude. The best possible thing that you can do to find a good developer
is to look at these points and use them as a guide:1) Make certain that
they have a portfolio of work online that you can see and above all check
with them to see if they have any clients that you are able to call up and
verify their work standards and project delivery. Call a few of these
people up and cross check every thing. Do not just call one person, make
certain that you do call at least two or three people. If they all say the
same thing then you do have a winner.2) Probably best not to choose a kid
with little or no experience who is offering to do the job for next to
nothing. remember, you pay for what you get and at the end of the day you
will get an inferior job. These are just a few points but you should really
use your best judgment and talk to as many developers as you can prior to
committing you business or company to this person.

Advantages of PHP Development Over Dot Net and Java
Posted: 28 May 2011 03:02 AM PDT
http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/WebBlogNews/~3/EtbGZguQRzQ/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email
PHP Web developers are in high demand today. Business developers should be
aware of advantages of PHP development to realize their choices better. The
technology has appeared as one of the most helpful and free web programming
platforms along with Linux and MySQL. The only cost involved is to charter
the PHP Web developers. There are no additional costs involved in
development processes. Whether you need a rudimentary website or a mighty
database in the backend, a forum location or a client amicable content
administration scheme, PHP provides you everything and that too for free,
except for charges of PHP developers. If a business unit desires a complete
and purposeful website for lesser value then PHP Web development is the
ultimate choice.Web Development today is concerned with Java,.net and PHP.
However, the latter is more useful as compared to its counterparts..Net Vs
PHP Development.Net is a powerful Web development platform. This
merchandise from Microsoft is adaptable with nearly all possible
submissions, provided you have a good programmer cipher for you. The
advantage of PHP over.Net is the cost and the difficulties attached with
stage associated problems..Net is conducive with Windows environment
only.Windows functioning scheme and programs required with.Net proves to be
rather costly as the output cost escalates. On the contrary, PHP and
affiliated programs are available for free, making it more attractive for
business proprietors to hire PHP programmers.Comparison with JavaJava is a
mighty Web development language. However, Java development is much more
perplexing than PHP. Java needs good deal of know-how to make full-use of
platform. In comparison, cipher in PHP is much easier than Java. Also, at a
given time, PHP is server-aligned and Java is not.PHP or Hypertext
Preprocessor is synonym with Web development. It is low cost and dependable
web based app. The technology adds dynamic functionalities to business
websites. Server side scripting programming language creates web-based
apps, and customized apps, Content management systems and many dynamic
tools. The open source release under PHP license is also beneficial in
creating GUI applications and is compatible with HTML. The challenge lies
in finding expertise in PHP Developers for desired Web development, because
low quality PHP coding websites start losing their grace and hence their
prominence on web.Strong domain knowledge and demand for ever-growing
PHP-programmers has led to strong development of core online marketing web
activities.

Essential Factors of the Web Development Contract
Posted: 28 May 2011 03:02 AM PDT
http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/WebBlogNews/~3/1qco7aECHUk/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email
This article discusses the factors which a company should include in the
website development contract. The website works as an identity card for the
company. It is the virtual presentation and image of a real company. Online
presentation has become the new age need for every business to gain maximum
profit from virtual trading. The website is always of importance and
because of this it has created the need of professional website developers.
It happens to many companies that they do not have any experience to deal
with website developers and they end up with the wrong outputs. Few factors
are discussed here which every company should take care before doing any
contract for website development. It happens few times that website
developer has all the controls of the site. This creates mishap for the
website owner company as the company cannot change any content, images or
any other data. Sometimes companies need to change the content or data
immediately at that time this thing can create a huge problem for the
company. Always check before signing a contract about this thing that a
company will hold all the controls of the website and not the website
development company. Many web developers use a pre-programmed code for the
website which is being used in earlier websites also. One should stay
flexible with the use of codes at that time. Few developers even make a new
code for the website and may be they can use that code for other websites
also at that time the owner should not mind the usage of the code. The
website owner should keep the right to change the code if they desire to
change that in the future. If you want to use the content of any other
website or the content which is already published somewhere then that
becomes your liability to get the permission from the parent website. You
cannot rely on the web developer to get the permission for the use of the
content.Always keep the margin of some extra time and budget for the
website. The extra time will always helps in the cases of delay by any
reason or you can make changes also after a final check.Always include the
provision for the changes in the specifications. That will help in the case
when developer misunderstands the owners concept.Mention the maintenance
terms clearly in the contract. Also include the provision for the training
of the employees in the case of small changes.A good professional web
development companies always have transparency in the contract. All these
factors state the necessity of contract in a transparent manner.Copyright ?

When Multichannel Marketing and Mobile Get Together
Posted: 27 May 2011 11:56 PM PDT
http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/WebBlogNews/~3/jljoKzWs2Lc/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email
The age of the smart phones is still not so ripe that they can be said to
omnipresent. Most of the people still use these phones for exchanging
messages. There is limited access to internet through these smart phones.
There are only few who can afford the smart phone devices that support
features email, mobile applications and internet. The reach of the smart
phones is not as much as its growing audience wants. This issue plays a
critical role when the marketing companies take for granted in their
marketing strategies that the reach is fully optimized. Those consumers that
first conduct a research by browsing through different websites and then do
the shopping through more than one channels are the consumers that are most
prized. The reason for this is that the quantity and frequency of purchase
is more than those buying through a single channel. The study of
demographics of the users of smart phones shifts the balance towards the
affluent class of people who usually have comparatively more money to
spend. This is the reason why more money is being spent for advertising
through digital channels, especially the social networking sites like
Facebook. The number of people trying to access the sellers through the
internet is on a sharp rise.Mobile as a baseThe goal of any business man in
internet marketing should be making the customer or client feel that they
are getting the true worth of the money spend by them. Mobile is now
becoming a base to offer these sorts of services or products. Most of the
people consider the Smartphone to be a standalone channel. This is
underestimation about the capacity of the mobile. In fact the mobile can be
used as a vector to many other channels. The smart phones are slowly
evolving to accommodate a range of features like email, text messaging,
applications, social media and mobile web. These features now need to be
considered for marketing of any products or services through the mobile and
internet. Now the marketers need to consider the preference of the consumers
or clients and then draft intelligent strategies to market the product or
services through different channels of marketing. The right messages need
to be targeted to the right person. The timing of sending and receiving
marketing messages is also quite vital for the success of the marketing
campaign.Preference of channel and permission of the consumerWhen the
marketing strategy is based on cross channel, all the consumers different
brands of smart phones are taken into consideration. The cross channel
marketing takes into considerations all the approaches including text
messaging and email. Before any channel is used the permission of the
prospective consumer is sought.Copyright ? 2011

Website Building Options - What Choices Are There?
Posted: 27 May 2011 11:35 PM PDT
http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/WebBlogNews/~3/2CKVMhLWYRY/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email
Building a website today is a LOT easier than a few years ago. There are
many options available to help you achieve the look and feel of the kind of
website you want. I will be going through themso you can decide which route
you want to take.Website building software This option is the hardest way
because it requires you to understand a little HTML (computer language)and
these programs have the choice of viewing your website building in 3 ways.
You can choose designwhich shows you exactly what it looks like. Then there
is the code option and if you are a complete beginnerthis option will make
no sense to you. It looks like a language you will have never seen before.
The third viewing option is a mixture of the two. The screen is split into
2the top half will be the normal view and the bottom half will be the code
viewand you can actually learn a little HTML using this viewing
option.Using WordPress a lot of people will know that this as a blogging
program. It is a blogging program but you can actually use this program to
build a great website. With hundreds of plugins (optional extras)you can
build a website to the exact way you want. This option is a lot easier than
the website building software and a relative newbie can actually build a
website from scratch.A lot of hosting companies now offer website building
program included in their hosting package. This option is very easy and
involves drag and drop features. As the name suggestsyou drag and drop the
options you wantlike imagesmenus etc. This option is by far the easiest way
to build your website and a complete beginner can very easily build a
website. The only download to this option is that you are limited to the
choices available within the website building program that came with your
hosting package. So you might not achieve the look and feel of the website
you are looking to buildbut by far the best option for the complete
newbie. The last option is to get someone or a company to build it for you.
No work involvedyou just tell what you want and they will build it for you.
Unfortunately it could cost you a lot of money and they have complete
control of your website. The website builder (webmaster) will normally
include hosting but a lot of time will be wasted because you probably will
not be satisfied with the webmaster initial draft. There will be a lot of
coming and going between you and the webmaster. After the site is finished
to your satisfactionthe webmaster will probably charge a maintenance fee
and will allow a limited amount of changes to your websitesuch as adding
another webpageadding more images etc.The best way to get started online
and building your first website is to actually learn how to build a
websiteand in true honestyit is not as hard as you may think. And once you
mastered these skills nobody can take that knowledge away from you. This

Posted: 27 May 2011 07:24 PM PDT

are not skilled at it. Selecting a web application development language is
a vital part of any website development. There are several ways, techniques
and tools to expand your web development. There are also many different
languages that different programmers are using for various different web
development purposes.Different applications and languages are used for
different purposes. Although most of the languages used works best for the
website owners there are few which are commonly and widely used. These
different applications do different tasks. It is therefore hard to figure
out for a web developer to choose from these several web languages that
works best for them. Here is a brief explanation to each of the common

Treat Your Business Website Like a Business
Posted: 27 May 2011 06:45 PM PDT
http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/WebBlogNews/~3/kCgbcFK9jXo/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email
Quite too many business owners neglect their website. Especially those who
may not be as familiar with computers besides the common tasks of checking
email or an occasional online search.Maybe its because many have not
experienced a valuable return from the internet or they may feel the
marketing company has their best interests vested into a campaign. Or maybe
the low performance is blamed on economic structure. In either case, this
website neglect will cost more money. With print marketing losing its way,
the digital world must be embraced. Think of it as your store front, but
online. Drive down any commercial road and compare businesses in terms of
window advertising, signs, decoration, cleanliness and over-all visibility.
The same needs to be applied to your website. Just remember it took a while
before customers found you traditionally. Today, with so many websites
being published, it is very easy to be lost.I have a client who paid a
family friend a small monthly budget for social media marketing. Charity is
great. I always encourage charitable donations. However, label them as such
to get full credit against your taxes. All budgets count. Would you really
just pay someone to walk around town and talk about your business? In their
spare time? With no real method of tracking results? Your website is an
extension of your business. An extra $100 per month with pay-per-click
might render a few extra customers. Take each part of your website and
treat it as a real business. All my life and even today, each time I walk
into any business, I assess the operation. I do the same with websites. I
try to find the good points as well as notice the bad points. There are
countless actions businesses take that actually turn away customers. The
same happens in a website. Content is poorly written. Links lead to empty
or broken pages. Whats worse is a website that has not been tested in all
current browsers. Over use of Javascript or Flash. Music set to auto play.
These are very frustrating. The worst is a website designed with arrogance.
A website that screams we are too good seem to push me away. I look for
humble designs that reflect the nature of the business and the owners. I
want to know who I am dealing with. People dont buy from a website because
it has an award winning design. They buy because they feel comfortable
buying. It is OK to have a small website without an award winning
design.Provide details and prices for your products. This I find to be one
of the largest flaws some owners make. For some reason they think its good
business to hide the price of an item. This is never a good practice. We
live in a world of superior communication and information is always
available. Transparency and honesty is the way to gain customer confidence.
The day of scheming business owners and unruly sales tactics generating
great profits are gone. And, in my opinion, its about time. When a customer
visits your website, they are interested in what you have to offer. Price
is a very strong piece of information. It is a huge component of
determining value. Especially in economic hardships. To outline everything
website owners do that reduces their online success would require a book.
To choose 1 item, it would be a very low budget. A well designed and
written website takes lots of time. Even after the initial publishing, many
changes will be needed. The value of your website will usually be measured
directly proportional to the budget set for its design. Of all the sites I
have seen, most fail to be treated like a business. Of course many
companies offer easy website setup or easy design for a mere $5 per month.
Its understandable how such misleading marketing can devalue an item, such
as a website. But of course, this is not any different than the bait n
switch marketing tactics practiced for ages. As a business owner, you
already have experienced such marketing.Fact is that it takes a strong set
of skills to create an effective website that will produce results. Even if
you are the lone ranger of your company, you still need to advertise.
Internet marketing is much more complicated and the pace at which it
changes is much faster than traditional print methods. Skimp out on your
website and you will get what you pay for.

Good Website Backup And Restore Plan
Posted: 27 May 2011 03:21 PM PDT
http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/WebBlogNews/~3/EuNO3gOqBCI/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email
Keeping your site operational should be at the top of your priority list if
you are wanting to make a living through the World Wide Web. However, it is
not always possible for things to run smoothly, and when you do not have
adequate protection or precautions for your site, then you can quickly see
the progress that you have made since going operational fade like a song.
Thats why it is important that you check with your hosting company before
you commit to an extensive plan. Make sure that they have the adequate
protections in place to not just keep you operational, but to save your
data and restore it as well. The reasons for this precaution are many.First
of all, important content that has established a connection with your
readers or viewers (depending on how well you integrate media) could be
lost forever. When this happens, the people, who made your site what it is
have no reason to return or recommend you to their friends. As far as
finding a new audience is concerned, it will be next to impossible without
worthwhile content to catch their and the search engines eyes. No backup
restore plan? How can you ever expect to get organic traffic?Another reason
that you need a good website restore and backup plan is for the sake of
eCommerce. While you may still get the payments for existing products and
services, what will you do about following up with your existing customers
to offer them additional value down the road? Most profits come from repeat
business. Without it, you would have to constantly be finding new people to
keep you afloat, and that is a marketing nightmare. Protecting the data
that you have worked so hard to acquire, the data that has led you to a
profitable venture, is worth the price that you pay.Perhaps the most
important reason of all to have a backup and restore plan is that it just
makes good sense, and it is indicative of how you run the rest of your site
and/or business. If you cannot be bothered to protect the most valuable
data that you possess, then how can you expected to effectively manage
other areas of your business? Organization is key for one breaking in to
the web as business model. Without organization it is too easy to lose
track of progress and stifle yourself before you even begin to be
successful.Backing up data and being able to restore it will give you the
peace of mind that is often lacking on the World Wide Web. But to do it
right, you need a professional hosting company that you can trust with all
that you have.

Digital Marketing - 9 Mobile Website Metrics To Know For Your Business
Posted: 27 May 2011 01:46 PM PDT
http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/WebBlogNews/~3/XxSV3_Sye6g/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email
Mobile websites are special websites built and optimized for use on mobile
devices like iPads or Android phones. For businesses, mobile websites are
pretty much a necessity today as more and more people use their cell phones
everywhere and people expect to get online and have a great experience all
the time. So to make sure your mobile website is a great experience for
your visitors, its important to monitor the metrics of your mobile site.
Here are nine metrics you should know for your mobile website.1. Visits
This is the number of consumers who have visited the mobile site. These
numbers can be identified for any period of time.2. Unique Visitors This
is the number of absolute unique visitors over a specified amount of time.
A unique visitor is a new visitor who hasnt visited the site in a specific
time period. If that person visits five times during that period, they will
only be counted once.3. Page Views This is the number of pages that have
been viewed on the website. Its a cumulative number.4. Pages / Visit This
is the average number of pages visited per visit. If there were 1000 page
views and 100 unique visitors, then there were 10 pages per visit.5. Bounce
Rate This is the percentage of single-page visits in which a visitor
leaves the site from the entrance page. This is a great metric that
measures visit quality. If 95% of the visitors leave on the first page,
Houston we have a problem!6. Average Time On Site This is the average
amount of time spent on the website by visitors. The longer they stay on
the site, the better the site is.7. Percentage Of New Visits This is the
percentage of new visitors over a specified period of time. You want to
know this info to see if people keep coming back. A low percentage of new
visits means your mobile site is doing a great job of building a community
where people want to come back to.8. Traffic Sources This identifies the
different sources of traffic to the mobile site. Examples of sources
include search engines, referring sites like Facebook, direct visits when
people type in the site, and so many more.9. Device Type This identifies
which type of device the visitors are using to access your site. Devices
include iPhones, Android phones, Blackberries and more.By the way, do you
